LA HVAC Install Tips

5 Important Things to Know When Installing a New HVAC

Installing a new HVAC is an essential process that should only be done by a trusted and licensed technician. When you work with our team, we'll ensure your new HVAC is properly installed to factory specifications. Before you get the process started, though, it helps to know a few key facts about the process.

#1: Location matters
The location of the new unit needs to be considered. Placing it by a window isn't a good idea because of the noise. However, one installed properly on a base on the roof is often best. Installing it on a base will prolong the life of the unit and will prevent it from sinking into the ground and corroding over time. And, the right base will also help reduce vibration noise.
#2: Size
The size or tonnage of an HVAC system should be based on several factors including the house square footage, the amount of windows, type of insulation in the house ext. Here's an example. If the system isn't properly sized for the home, it will not cool the home properly. And, it will run the A/C unit on a more frequent basis. This causes a significant increase in your electricity bill. The properly sized system will not do this but will remain both affordable to run and within the desired price range.
#3: Ventilation factors
Like any large system, your HVAC system will require ventilation. Proper air distribution is essential. For example, if the duct work is not properly sized, the system cannot operate properly. And, this can cause a lack of air flow, freezing of the evaporator coils, and further complications. And, wrong size return can lead to the unit in becoming starved for air – potentially causing it to breakdown much sooner than it should. This is rectified by putting the right ventilation in place.
#4: Building codes
Every city will have a building code that must be maintained. The bottom line is that the city or other governing body wants to ensure the system is safe. Follow all mechanical building code guidelines – it's not an option here. These need to be followed 100 percent of the time. It's also important to have a proper permit in place for the HVAC installation. This gives you peace of mind as well. You want to ensure your system is properly installed and safe. Down the road, if you need to sell the home, this will become a key factor.
#5: Using a Licensed contractor:
Finally, ensure you are using a Licensed, insured, and Bonded contractor. This way you as the home owner are protecting your rights and property.

This system is one of the core components of the home. Proper installation is essential.
